Karen Warren

Karen Warren started her career as an academic librarian but later became a tax professional. She left the day job in 2012 to concentrate on her neglected interests of writing, travelling and photography.

Karen never planned to write historical fiction but found herself captivated by a minor episode in the life of the 13th century explorer Marco Polo – this led to her novel Shadow of the Dome, which was published by Lume Books in 2017. Her second novel, a contemporary history based in England and South Africa, is currently at the final draft stage.

Karen travels extensively and writes travel articles for her websites WorldWideWriter and Bewitched By Italy. She is currently working on a non-fiction book called Secret Bath, exploring some of the city’s hidden places. She is also a book reviewer (for the Historical Novel Society and on her own site Karen Warren Author).
