Barbara Henderson

Barbara Henderson is the Inverness-based author of critically acclaimed historical children’s novels Fir for Luck (set during the Highland Clearances) and Punch (a Victorian boy-on-the-run adventure), both published by Cranachan. She is known for her energetic school events. Also part of the NessBookFest committee, she splits her time between writing and Drama teaching and co-ordinates the Inverness hub of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
Barbara has won the Nairn Festival Short Story Competition, the Creative Scotland Easter Monologue Competition, the Pockets Magazine Fiction Contest and the Ballantrae Smuggler’s Story Competition. She was one of three writers shortlisted for the Kelpies Prize 2013.
